The Courses
Florida Golfer Magazine recently hailed the Tournament Player's Club at Prestancia as "the number one private club in Southwest Florida," and rightly so. As a part of the illustrious TPC network with affiliate courses throughout the United States, TPC at Prestancia affords all of its members all possibility luxuries. There are two 18-hole courses at Prestancia, each with a unique flavor and design. The present club is a combination of old and new, created in 1984 when the PGA TOUR took over The Country Club of Sarasota and added to its existing 18 holes a second 18-hole championship layout designed by Mike Souchak and Ron Garl.

The Stadium Course, the fourth in the TPC network, is a traditional TPC layout that melds signature TPC characteristics with the designers' personal philosophies. Open areas behind the greens frame the holes and temper the traditional stadium mounding look. Short holes have more demanding greens and longer ones more gentle. The fairways are generous. One-third of the holes feature water hazards, while bunker use is varied but reserved. Old stands of trees add to the challenge on the 6,927-yard, par-72 design.

A 35,000-square foot clubhouse and 524 dwelling units, all featuring Mediterranean style architecture, blend into the habitat, again, striking a welcome balance to the senses. The clubhouse has all the requisite amenities, including men's and women's locker rooms, a club dining room that can accommodate 180, a banquet room for another 160 people, and a first-rate golf shop.

The practice area covers 93,000 square feet, offering opportunities to practice bunker play, chipping, putting as well as a full driving range. More than 100 youths take advantage of the club's outstanding junior program. Swimming and tennis also are available at the club, but there is little question what the true attraction is at the TPC at Prestancia.

The club offers both Charter and Executive memberships, each with its own set of ramifications and privileges. In broad strokes, an Executive membership requires an initiation fee of $8,000 for a joiner under 40, and $15,000 for a joiner over 40. A Charter membership requires a fee of $28,000. Each membership level also requires monthly dues of $446 which allow all uses of TPC Prestancia to the whole family. Members must use a minimum of $500 worth of Food and Beverage services and maintain a locker at the club with bag storage for an annual fee of $300.

The Homes
The Tournament Players Club at Prestancia is nestled in Sarasota's prestigious Palmer Ranch. Known for its unique homes and great location, Palmer Ranch is a highly sought after location in Sarasota real estate. A home in this area is less than five minutes from all shopping and about ten minutes to the powdery white sands of Siesta Key. Homes located in Palmer Ranch are generally newer and focus on traditional Florida architecture with large open rooms, tile floors, and large sliding glass doors for stunning vistas of the golf course and adjacent lakes and preserves. A walking trail surrounds the area with a YMCA just around the corner. Palmer Ranch also features access to the county's finest schools. Abounding with subdivisions varying in style and amenities, Palmer Ranch condos can still be found starting in the low $200s to the $800s. Homes vary from the mid $300s to $3 million.

Specifically located within Prestancia is a very select group of condos and homes. Based strongly on bold lines, dramatic angles, and traditional Mediterranean flair, these dwellings are highly unique and sought after. Ranging from 2,000 square feet to 12,000 square feet, and in price from the mid $400s to $3 million, Prestancia truly is a luxe Sarasota destination.
